Will

In these sad days of bereavement, may I on behalf of the Jackley family, send deepest sympathy. Will’s love for and pride in his family was unfailingly reflected in his life and conversation. My late husband , Mike, and Will were very close and I know how greatly Mike valued his friendship and their regular Saturday morning gathering at the Men’s Breakfast and , over the years ,we were part of each other’s lives. Will was impressively accomplished in so many ways, whether making beautiful wooden toys for our grandchildren or growing magnificent dahlias worthy of a Chelsea Gold Medal! Certainly he was a man for all culinary seasons and his professional expertise ensured that we looked forward to his sublime Royal Ascot strawberry tarts and his memorable Christmas mince pies! As I put these few words together, I have a particular reason to remember Will as he very kindly assembled my computer table  - aided by Mike ! Since moving to York we have always kept in touch and I shall miss my chats with Will and I leave last words to W.B. Yeats. “Think where man’s glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends”
